Self-driving cars, drones, geolocation, solar energy, artificial intelligence, augmented reality, cloud computing, 3D-printing. These are just some areas of innovation that are now within reach to many people. Technology is playing an ever increasing role in everyone’s life, and the demand for skilled technology talent is higher than ever! However, there exists a shortage of supply for such skilled talent, and universities are challenged to meet this demand. To help meet this demand, Jonajo Consulting is proud to launch the Jonajo Academy! Our first course is launching this Saturday, November 19th in Monterrey!
Skills versus Diplomas
Jonajo Academy exists to educate individuals valuable skills needed in Technology, ranging from mobile application development, cloud infrastructure, machine learning, user interface & user experience design to digital marketing, social media, agile/scrum methodology. The academy holds these courses bootcamp-style; that is: focused, intensive sessions, that run course over a matter of weeks. This is an idea which Todd Rose discusses in his book, The End of Average. The goal is to provide individuals with practical skills that are directly applicable in industry. Instead of diplomas, these courses will develop skills that form building blocks toward the specific career one wants to fill.
Jonajo Academy: Providing Opportunity
Inspired by other bootcamps, such as Hack Reactor in Silicon Valley, and Zoho University in India, Jonajo Consulting has chosen Mexico as the first location to launch the Jonajo Academy. We believe that Mexico is home to a lot of promising talent if given the right opportunities. Our first courses will be held in Monterrey, Mexico, but we are planning to expand to other regions in Mexico as well such as the southern and central regions.
To prepare students for real-world employment, Jonajo Academy will involve students in real-world projects. Designing actual websites, building actual apps, creating an digital ad campaign, leading scrum teams and other practical activities. This will ensure that the education is not only theoretical, but also applicable to real-world scenarios. In collaboration with Jonajo Consulting, there are many projects in which students can collaborate to sharpen their skills.
Globalizing Local Communities
Education is key to overcoming poverty and unemployment. Jonajo Academy aims to provide skills based education at a price that is affordable to local communities and areas where opportunities are slim. By giving back to the community, we are investing in people and are preparing them to compete in and contribute towards the global economy!
